Our mission is to provide cutting-edge expertise, innovative approaches, and highest level of care for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diabetes, obesity and other hormonal diseases in our small animal patients.
We also care for future patients by conducting clinical trials that help further our knowledge on diabetes and obesity management and prevention. We work with you and your primary veterinarian to create a comprehensive monitoring and treatment plan to provide the best care for your pets.
Some of the diseases and conditions that are treated are:
- Canine and Feline Diabetes Mellitus
- Acromegaly/Hypersomatotropism
- Obesity
- Adrenal diseases (Cushing’s and Addison’s)
- Thyroid diseases (hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism)
- Parathyroid diseases (hyperparathyroidism and hypoparathyroidism)
Please note that while the Diabetes Clinic will be involved in the care of patients that require surgical treatments for diseases related to diabetes (such as cataract surgery, adrenalectomies and hypophysectomies), those surgeries will continue to be performed by top-notch surgeons here at UF Small Animal Hospital. If these procedures are indicated for your pet, they may be scheduled to take place at another visit.
