Emergency and Critical Care Opportunities

The University of Florida’s Small Animal Hospital is the only facility in the state certified as a Level 1 Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care facility, the highest level awarded by VECCS. This means we provide 24/7, sophisticated emergency and critical care for small animals, with at least one board-certified specialist available at all times.

By working at UF, you will gain direct hands-on experience in mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), advanced blood product transfusions, and invasive monitoring. In conjunction with our unique Open-Heart Surgery Program, you’ll have the opportunity to guide patients through their post-op recovery alongside perfusion and cardiology specialists, including managing complex arterial lines, tracking intracardiac pressures, and mitigating post-bypass arrhythmias. Additionally, our department offers structured mentorship and support from experienced board-certified specialists and VTS diplomates to help you achieve your Veterinary Technician Specialist (ECC) designation.

If you are ready to champion a supportive culture, practice top-tier medicine, and help cultivate the next generation of veterinary professionals, we want to hear from you!

Technician Positions

Our ECC Technicians work only 3 days per week with 4 days off! We currently have both day and night shifts available.
